Crossett School District
Now responsible for district curriculum, Tommy Tyler has served as a science teacher (6-12), assistant principal, elementary principal, middle school principal, superintendent, and assistant superintendent in seven Arkansas school districts.
Tommy's first technology-related experience took place in 1975 when he worked with a middle school math teacher and a college professor to set up the first computer lab at Conway Middle School. The computers were Commodore 64s, and the first education-related activity was writing software commands to do elementary math functions. He has devoted the last twenty years to finding the finances to provide technology for schools.
Tommy says he finds technology planning a most intriguing activity. His most satisfying accomplishments in technology have been providing the support, funding and staffing necessary to implement such programs as East Lab, Microsoft Academies, Cisco Academy, library management programs, and financial management systems.
Tommy and his wife have two children, one dog, and two cats. The family loves to go to the beach: the Gulf Coast is their favorite place to spend vacation time.
