Southwest AR Ed Coop

Phoebe Bailey's desire to work with children led her to become an elementary school teacher after completing a B.S. and M.S. from Southern Arkansas University.

After 10 years in the classroom, she took a job at Southwest Arkansas Education Cooperative where she is currently Director. She now provides professional development for classroom teachers and administrators in all areas of curriculum. Phoebe is a Pathwise trainer and is certified to train for TESA (Teacher Expectations & Student Achievement). She is also a member of the SWAEC Technology Training Team. Phoebe is the project coordinator for the Technology Infused Education (TIE) project. The focus of this project is training teachers and administrators to use instructional technology through a module based system of face to face training. There are currently 66 classroom teachers training other teachers across the state.

Phoebe is proud of her own growth in her use of technology since her first exposure to computers in college. She models classroom use of handheld technologies along with training teachers to use CRT and NRT scores to guide their curriculum.

Reading Educational Leadership from ASCD and Teaching Children Mathematics from NCTM keeps her current in her field and aids her in "helping teachers keep up with their students" in the technology realm. This practice also helps her insure that all her schools "have access to appropriate technologies." Her favorite web site is

Phoebe is an experienced presenter, traveling to Canada to present at Texas Instrument's International Conference and Orlando to present at ASCD.
